I'm a retired Air Force nurse. I'm also a scrapbooking instructor with a dream of opening my own store. I was in the Air Force for 11 years. I've been a nurse for 15 years. I live in Northern California with a mutt, Sandi and a cat, Orion. I enjoy going to scrapbook conventions, and I'll bring back stuff to sell to you. One convention had a scrapbook made out of flip flip shoes.
On a funny note, at Yokota Air Base, Tokyo, Japan, I was a pediatric clinic nurse by day, and a scrapbook instructor by night. I also sold Close To My Heart, Tupperware and Mary Kay. At first it was because there was nothing to do there, then I realized not only was I making extra money, but I was meeting everyone on base. When my tour was over I knew everybody, even the Embassy family with the pet turtle. I am horrified to say I learned how to make it stick its head out so I could swab its mouth for bacteria. The pediatrician requested that I poke it with my finger in its butt. Yup. Our pediatric clinic saw everybody, even the family turtle. I was humbled. If you have a pet turtle, don't worry, you don't have to test it for bacteria. Turtles do not have bacteria harmful to humans. We only tested the turtle because the mom was so scared. It sure made for a funny story, though.
On a spiritual note, at my first duty station, Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas, my neighbor, Cristine, a rubberstamper and scrapbooker, and her husband, a physican assistant in the Air Force, begun a special bond when a fellow crafter, and close friend, Paula, lost her life while we were stationed there. Opening a craft store was always Paula's dream, now it's become my dream.
